Happy New Year!

by | Jan 19, 2024

I hope all of you are staying warm and your year is off to a great start! Angel and I hit the ground running and have our 2024 Events all booked and lined out. If you’re a Schwab client with our firm, watch for your formal New Year’s Letter and 2024 Event Calendar to hit your mailbox next week. To kick things off this year, we will have economist, Bryce Gill, who’s ranked as a top US forecaster by Bloomberg, out to speak about the economy and his outlook for 2024. As a reminder, you do not have to be a client of our firm to attend! We love having guests who are not only interested in the information but also want a soft introduction to our firm and the services we provide. We will serve dinner so if you plan to attend, please be sure to register with Angel. Also, let her know if you have any guests you’d like to bring along. This event is likely to fill up quickly so RSVP at your earliest convenience.

With tax season right around the corner, here are some tips to ensure you have all your documents before you file…
For Schwab accounts, it is very simple to see all the accounts that generate a tax document, and the expected date they’ll be available. Log into Schwab Alliance and go to the “Statements” tab. It will give you a 1099 dashboard. (NOTE: Make sure you have “ALL Brokerage Accounts” selected in the blue drop-down.)  I logged into my personal accounts as I typed this up for you, and it automatically took me right there. It lists the accounts I have at Schwab that will generate a 1099, the name of the document (1099-R, 1099-INT, etc), and an expected date that it is available.

Remember, for your IRA accounts that produce a 1099, those are generally available by January 31st. If you have a taxable brokerage account (TOD, Joint account, Trust account), those generally come mid-late February. That is not just a Schwab thing, that’s just how it goes with taxable accounts. If you are not on Schwab Alliance, we encourage you to get that set up. If don’t feel comfortable with it, then you can call our office and Angel will help ensure you have all the tax documents that you need. Remember: We cannot email tax documents in an unsecured email. So if we need to email them to you or your accountant, there will be a couple of extra steps for security.

Outside of that, we look forward to the 15th year of MS Financial Resources and want to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to all those we serve and we look forward to many more great years to come! Happy 2024 to all of you and GO CHIEFS!!!!

MS Financial Resources is a division of Midwest Financial Group LLC an SEC registered investment adviser.

As a registered investment adviser, we are now required to provide clients a new Client Relationship Summary document knows as “Form CRS”. This new form, which is available here, is the third part of our Form ADV investment adviser registration statement, so it is also referred to at times as “Form ADV Part 3”.

The purpose of the form is to provide clients with clear and succinct information regarding key aspects of investment advisory and brokerage relationships. The new form includes summarized information about services we provide, fees we charge, how our advisors are compensated, industry practices, etc. It also references where you can find additional information in our Form ADV Part 2 Disclosure Brochure, which we can provide you at any time free of charge, is posted at the website indicated on the Client Relationship Summary or you can access the SEC’s Investment Adviser Public Disclosure (IAPD) system at www.adviserinfo.sec.gov.

We appreciate the opportunity to serve you and welcome any questions you have about our firm or about your account.
